believe in teaching all aspects of the horse, from the ground
up. In our lesson program, you will learn how to handle
and understand a horse, how to groom, feed, and maintain a
healthy horse as well as ride in a relaxed, comfortable and
fun environment. We feel that we excel in offering encouragement to the novice as well as fearful rider. Our mission is to give students the skills to feel confident that they can handle a horse on the ground as well as riding in any type of situation while having fun!!! Our students learn horsemanship skills that will benefit them in reining, dressage, hunt, jumping, or whatever their focus may become. Once they have decided their direction, then we can fine tune those areas. Lesson horses here come in all shapes and sizes, breeds and colors with a common denominator of a great disposition! For those that have their own horse we offer trailer-in lessons and clinics. In these we will discuss our theories on building respect and trust in your horse to gain a lasting partnership. At Lakefield Farm, we pride ourselves in giving you an all around education. We not only teach you to ride a horse, but to also about their care, health issues, equipment, and safety procedures. We feel that ground work is essential to understanding the horse and become an all around better horse person. Goals and Objectives Lakefield Farm is geared not only to helping people learn about horses but to also learn valuable lessons in life. Safe Judgment: We want students to understand and respect the horse. They will be taught to use knowledge and application of the safety rules. Dependability and Responsibility: Students will be taught care for the horses and equipment. Thinking: Through questioning, we will allow the student to figure out answers and reason for themselves. Goal
Setting: Initially, we will motivate the student through
encouragement, patience and enthusiasm. Then as we progress,
the student can set their own goals for what they want out
of their exposure to the horse. Self Assurance: This comes as the student advances in the skills of handling and riding the horses. Enjoyment: We want to teach the skills and the joy of riding as this is a sport you can participate no matter what age and it can become a lifelong hobby. Consideration and Esteem: The atmosphere in and around the barn will demand the students act with consideration to others, the horses, the equipment, and the instructors. Relating and communicating: Clear communication between horse and rider, verbal as well as non-verbal, is the only means to an effective working relationship in riding and handling horses.
