Goals and objectives of Lakefield Farm's Horsemanship Weeks: Safe Judgment: We want the students to understand and respect the horse. They will be taught through the knowledge and application of the safety rules.Dependability and Responsibility: Students will be taught through the care for the horses and equipment. Thinking: Through questioning, we will allow the student to figure out answers and reason for themselves. Goal Setting:Initially,
we will motivate the student through encouragement, patience, and enthusiasm. Then as we progress, the student can set their own goals for what they want out of
their exposure to the horse.
Self-Assurance: This comes as the student advances in the skills of handling and riding the horses. Enjoyment: This is a wonderful sport, which a person can participate in at all ages and can become a lifelong hobby. Consideration and Self Esteem: The atmosphere in and around the barn will demand that the students act with consideration to others, the horses, the equipment, and the instructors. Relating and communicating: Clear communication between horse and rider, verbal as well as non-verbal, is the only means to an effective working relationship in riding and handling horses
